S1E1 is primarily an outlet for views and reviews on Japanese animated media, and occasionally video games and other entertainment. Unless otherwise noted in the content of a review or article, all anime and manga reviewed on this page were obtained via a personal purchase (disc, book, or digital download) or via my (Jessi Silver) personal streaming account subscriptions. As this website is a personal project, all opinions are my own or those of occasional contributors.
As a student of the Japanese language, I generally watch subtitled anime at the exclusion of English-dubbed anime. This is not a commentary on the quality of English dubbing, but simply a personal preference. If you have watched a reviewed series in English (or any other language, for that matter), feel free to add a comment on that version’s quality in the comment section of the review.
Speaking of comments, I enjoy and welcome discussion; however, as with many others, I have had past encounters with users who comment in bad faith, write using abusive language, or otherwise choose to cause problems in comment sections, so comments are heavily monitored and may be removed if they display any of the aforementioned issues.
